By mid-September, the number of inbound and outbound passengers at Beijing’s ports exceeded 15 million this year, up about 18% year-on-year.This milestone was achieved more than 40 days earlier than in 2024. Among them, foreign nationals made more than 4.2 million trips, a year-on-year increase of nearly 34%.
Since the beginning of this year, China has continued to expand its visa-free “circle of friends”. A series of visa facilitation measures have been rolled out, fueling steady growth in the country’s inbound tourism market. This has led to an increasing number of foreign visitors embarking on trips to China. By mid-September, more than 1.2 million foreign nationals had entered China via Beijing’s ports under visa-free or visa-free transit policies, accounting for 57% of all inbound foreigners. Tourism, business, and family visits emerged as the primary purposes for entry.
In response to a growing influx of visitors, the Beijing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection has adopted multiple measures to ensure safe and smooth border clearance. These efforts aimed to foster a secure, smooth, and orderly border environment to improve Beijing’s role as the center for international exchanges.
