The Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) was held in Beijing from October 17 to 18. To deliver top-notch services, all departments in the city have worked together to make thorough preparations in various aspects such as meeting arrangements, accommodation, catering, tourism, and transportation. These efforts were highly praised by the participants.

At the Beijing Capital International Airport, guests from all over the world were warmly greeted by children holding flowers and youths waving red flags, accompanied by the joyful music of Welcome to Beijing. "I felt the same hospitality in Beijing as we do in South America, and I enjoyed the welcome ceremony walking the red carpet," said Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font. On the afternoon of October 17, Mutianyu Great Wall welcomed an "old friend", Argentine President Alberto Fernandez. "The Great Wall is a world wonder. I am delighted to visit it again, and I love Chinese people very much." said President Fernandez. He also mentioned that this trip fulfilled his long-held dream. Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude towards the Chinese support staff for their service and his wish for an everlasting friendship between the two nations.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali was impressed by Beijing's sci-tech innovation and high-tech enterprises. On the afternoon of October 17, he visited Zhongguancun Dongsheng International Science Park, where he explored the Global Healthcare Innovation Center, International Hydrogen Energy Center, International Incubator, and Education Center. Through the innovative application of the metaverse and digital twins, he experienced first-hand the vibrancy and strength of Beijing's scientific innovation. He believed that this visit could serve as a significant reference for the development of the hydrogen energy industry in his country, and expressed hope for future cooperation with Beijing in this field.

During the forum, the Ethiopian delegation, led by their head of state, were accommodated in a hotel that offers a picturesque view of the Liangma River International Style Waterfront. They were able to enjoy the lush greenery through their windows and explore the scenic spot located just outside the hotel. The riverbank is lined with trees providing shade. The guests were captivated by the beautiful scenery in front of them and took a leisurely stroll along the Liangma River. Besides, delegations from Laos and Vientiane visited the area to learn about the Landmark River urban renewal project and gave it high praise.

Cultural and creative products such as Bing Dwen Dwen, Tu Dwen Dwen, China Post commemorative envelopes, and refrigerator magnets themed on Beijing architecture were popular among foreign guests. During the third BRF, high-quality products featuring the elements of the Belt and Road, traditional Chinese culture, and Beijing culture were displayed at the hotels of foreign delegations, attracting a large number of visitors. By 12:00 on October 19, the total sales of these products reached 250,000 yuan.

High-tech, green, and efficient
During the event, journalists were able to experience the seamless integration of technology and service in the media center. In the technology and culture interaction area, they could immerse themselves in 8K UHD visuals and 360° VR surround shooting. Moreover, in the AI creation area, a simple touchscreen drawing could generate a stunning Chinese landscape painting. Through video capture technology, an animated short film was created, featuring the virtual images of journalists visiting landmarks in Beijing, such as the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in the Temple of Heaven, Sanlitun, and Yangmeizhu Xiejie, one of four byways in Qianmen area.

The registration and badge delivery processes were improved through technology. Machine scanning was introduced in badge sorting and delivery, replacing traditional manual labor. Other measures included the use of electronic signatures and paperless badge delivery. Representative signatures and collection results would be automatically stored, generating a log for retrieval and review. This approach ensured both the efficiency and security of the signing and collection process.

Participants have left more than 100 messages on an eight-meter-long scroll to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative and the BRF.
