"It's amazing!" "Incredible!" "I've seen many things for the first time!" On the afternoon of September 25, the themed shooting event of the third "Beijing·A Global City" Short Video Contest took place in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA), bringing together more than 30 foreign students from 24 countries, including Morocco, Turkey, Mexico, and the UK. They explored the E-Town Impressions Exhibition Hall and the Neolix Unmanned Delivery Ecological Space, and took test rides on Robotaxis and intelligent and connected buses. These immersive experiences allowed them to witness the frontiers of the high-tech industry and showcase Beijing as a global leader in the development of future science and technology via their lenses.
"Through facial recognition", international students entered the E-Town Impressions Exhibition Hall in Boda Building. Fascinated by "5G+8K" audio-visual technology, LEDCAVE space, and digital virtual algorithm system, international students were immersed in a vivid and three-dimensional introduction. This encounter offered them a thorough insight into the history and future of this new comprehensive industrial area, which features advanced science and technology, collective wisdom, ecosystem, and vitality.
In the Neolix Unmanned Delivery Ecological Space, international students explored unmanned delivery vehicles, unmanned retail vehicles, and unmanned vehicles for educational purposes. They discovered that these vehicles have already been adopted in 13 countries, including Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Switzerland, and Germany, serving over 100 scenarios in 40 cities. An international student from Uganda expressed her surprise at the rapid development of Beijing's unmanned vehicles and how they could potentially become a part of daily life. She hoped that China could promote unmanned vehicle technology and products on a global scale, enabling more people to benefit from these convenient and efficient services.
When visiting the BDA, taking an unmanned vehicle is a must. A short 15-minute test ride left the international students very excited. "It was fascinating!" said Violetta Sazhina, a Russian student from the Communication University of China. She mentioned that she had never seen so many autonomous driving products, and felt like “China is living in the future”. A Moroccan student studying at the Beijing International Studies University, also marveled, "This is the first time I've seen so many cutting-edge technologies!" He expressed his intention to take advantage of this rare opportunity to capture more moments and hoped that Beijing could expand international cooperation in this field in the future.
In recent years, the BDA has attracted an increasing number of Chinese enterprises and multinational corporations with cutting-edge product lines, establishing itself as a "gravitational field" that pools global innovative resources. During the shooting event, international students were able to witness the robust momentum of high-tech development throughout the area. As this activity allowed them to experience the rapid development of Beijing in the field of artificial intelligence, they were eager to narrate the story of a global E-Town featuring high-tech through their lenses.
At the request of followers of the WeChat official account of Beijing Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and short video enthusiasts, the deadline for submission to the third "Beijing·A Global City" Short Video Contest has been extended to November 10. Participants can post their videos on new media platforms such as Kuaishou, Weibo, WeChat Channel, and Douyin, using the hashtag #Beijing·A Global City 2023#. They should also send the source files, titles and overviews of their works, and creator profiles to the organizing committee of the event to beijingvideos@cri.cn.
