On the evening of October 12, 2025, the 2025 Beijing Reception in Honor of Foreign Diplomatic Missions to China was held at the Longfu Cultural Center. Over 300 guests from 110 countries attended, including diplomatic envoys, representatives of international organizations in China, and their family members. Yin Li, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, delivered a speech, and Yin Yong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Beijing, presided over the event. Li Xiuling, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress; Wei Xiaodong, Chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); and You Jun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, attended the event.
In his speech, Yin Li expressed gratitude for the long-term attention and support of diplomatic envoys to Beijing’s development. He noted that 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Over the past eight decades, countries worldwide have worked together to uphold the post-war international order, and promote unity, cooperation, and mutual benefit, advancing global prosperity. President Xi Jinping has successively proposed the Global Development Initiative (GDI), the Global Security Initiative (GSI), the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), and the Global Governance Initiative (GGI). The Chinese government and people are committed to building a community with a shared future for humanity, which further demonstrates China’s firm commitment to upholding international fairness and justice, and will inject new and strong momentum into advancing global openness and cooperation. This year also marks the conclusion of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan. Beijing’s economy has maintained a sound growth momentum, with vibrant innovation and creativity, steady improvement in people’s well-being, flourishing cultural development, continued enhancement of the ecological environment, and greater openness to the outside world. Looking ahead to the next five years, Beijing will strive to take the lead in basically achieving socialist modernization. The city will harness new quality productive forces to drive high-quality development, invigorate growth through high-standard reform and opening-up, continuously improve its governance system as a super-large city, enhance people’s well-being and public services, and further optimize the business environment and international services. By doing so, Beijing aims to build itself into a world-class, harmonious, and livable capital, sharing greater development opportunities with all partners. Envoys and representatives present are witnesses and participants in Beijing’s development, and the city is committed to providing better conditions for their work in Beijing.
Speaking on behalf of the diplomatic envoys, Husam Al-Hussein, Ambassador of Jordan to China, commended Beijing’s remarkable economic and social achievements, as well as the major events it has hosted in recent years, which are testament to the city’s extraordinary charm and strength. He said that efforts by the municipal government have made life in Beijing more comfortable, convenient, and vibrant. He expressed his best wishes for Beijing’s continued development and reaffirmed the commitment to deepening cooperation and friendly relations between Beijing and cities around the world.
Before the reception, the diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations boarded the sightseeing bus for a tour along the Central Axis, appreciating the fascination and heritage of the ancient capital. At the Longfu Cultural Center, diplomatic envoys experienced the exquisite craftsmanship of traditional intangible cultural heritage, immersing themselves in the unique charm of Beijing culture. During the reception, Chinese and foreign guests also enjoyed a series of performances.
The event was attended by leaders from central government agencies, including Ma Hui, Li Kexin, Hong Lei, and Lu Xiangdong, as well as Beijing municipal leaders Xia Linmao and Zhao Lei. Also present were Wang Jianzhong, Secretary General of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress; Zeng Jin, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality; and Han Yu, Secretary General of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC.
