Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW Group, and Jon R. Moeller, Chairman of the Board, President, and CEO of P&G, on the afternoon of March 25.
During the meeting with Zipse, Yin pointed out that Beijing aims to promote the development of intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) and other industries driven by sci-tech innovation. To provide Beijing's solutions for intelligent connectivity, the city pioneered the technical route of vehicle-to-everything, built the world's first demonstration zone for high-level autonomous driving featuring the connected-cloud control system and China's first dedicated area for piloting ICV policies. In recent years, BMW has upgraded its Beijing R&D center to the R&D headquarters in China and expanded its R&D presence in Beijing, heralding a brighter future for bilateral cooperation. We expect closer cooperation with BMW in such fields as autonomous driving and new energy vehicles (NEVs), seeing that its R&D headquarters play a bigger role in the company's development. We will continue to improve the business environment, give full play to the "service package" and "service steward" mechanisms, and offer better services for the company, said Yin.
Zipse thanked Beijing for its strong support for BMW's development, emphasizing the importance of Beijing to BMW's development in China. He looked forward to a stronger partnership with Beijing in terms of the application scenarios of autonomous driving, technology R&D, and so forth.
During the meeting with Moeller, Yin said that Beijing is steadfastly pursuing higher-level opening-up, accelerating the development of the "two zones", and stepping up efforts to attract and utilize foreign investment. With the restoration and expansion of consumption as our top priority, we are building Beijing into an international consumption center at a faster pace to unleash the potential of domestic demand. P&G, a world-renowned consumer goods company deeply rooted in the Chinese market, has maintained good growth momentum in Beijing and the space for cooperation with Beijing is huge. We hope that P&G can help Beijing build an international consumption center by staying abreast of the consumer market trends in Beijing, increasing product launches, enhancing R&D facilities, and better meeting consumer demand. P&G is welcomed to further play its role as a member of the international business leaders advisory council for the mayor of Beijing and to offer insights on the city's high-quality development. We will maintain close communication with P&G and render better services for the company's development in Beijing.
Moeller recognizes that the Chinese economy has enjoyed rapid growth in recent years and its prospects are promising. P&G has the confidence to scale up its business here and is willing to work with Beijing for a fruitful partnership, thus helping Beijing to build an international consumer center.
Municipal leaders Jin Wei and Sima Hong, and Mu Peng, Secretary-General of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, also attended the meetings.
