On the morning of March 29, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee convened a plenary meeting. Cai Qi, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Chairman of its Foreign Affairs Committee presided over the meeting. Chen Jining, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Mayor of Beijing and Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Zhang Yankun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress and Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee attended the meeting.
It is emphasized at the meeting that we need to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, give full play to Beijing's unique advantages as the capital, and promote the high-quality development of Beijing's foreign affairs work to better serve the overall foreign affairs work of the Party and State and celebrate the successful opening of the 20th CPC National Congress with concrete actions.
It is emphasized at the meeting that we need to coordinate epidemic prevention and control and foreign exchanges. Beijing should summarize the epidemic prevention and control experience during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and ensure quality foreign exchanges under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control. The city should make good use of the Internet and other means, carry out foreign exchanges and cooperation through online and offline activities, and actively promote people-to-people diplomacy.
It is emphasized at the meeting that we need to inject new momentum into Beijing's high-level opening-up and development. We should strengthen the integration of foreign affairs work and the "five key projects", bringing together international high-end resources. We should make good use of pilot reforms in Zhongguancun and formulate favorable policies to build Beijing into a reservoir of best minds, continuously strengthen international sci-tech innovation cooperation and attract global quality innovation resources. Efforts should be made to further enhance the popularity of the "two zones" and the international influence of the "Three Platforms", namely the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), the Zhongguancun Forum, and the Financial Street Forum. To optimize the environment for and functions of international exchanges, Beijing should fully utilize its advantage as the "dual-Olympic" city to improve the city's image building and promotion.
It is required at the meeting that the Party's unified leadership over foreign-related work must be strengthened. The Municipal Foreign Affairs Committee should take the lead, the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office should enhance coordination and supervision, while each member unit, district, and department should strengthen the study and deployment of key foreign-related projects and works.
At the meeting, the requirement of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee on local foreign affairs work in 2022 was announced, and the work priorities of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee in 2022 and its work report of 2021were reviewed.
Municipal leaders Cui Shuqiang, Qi Jing, Sun Meijun, Zhang Jiaming, Mo Gaoyi, and the Secretary-General of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, Dai Binbin attended the meeting.
